computer crash

I am very sad to tell you that our desktop comupter crashed yesterday. In actuality it's not nearly as bad as it could be, and when Bryan came home and gave it the diagnosis last night,i think i handled it really well. The saddest part is that all of my scrapbooking stuff was on there and i hadn't saved a backup for a looong time! so out of the 30 or so pages i've made since Jackson was born, about 20 are gone and i'll have to start over- blah! And my only other real disappointment about it is that i had made birthday invitations for jackson's 1st birthday as well, and was just waiting for a go ahead with the time before printing them. And since photoshop doesn't exist on this computer, i will end up with some not-as-cute ones.
Jackson will be one year old in exactly 1 week! I am so excited! Since we dont really have a lot of family down here I'm going to make cupcakes and invite all of jackson's friends (and parents too, of course) to come outside and play with us. I hope Jackson enjoys the cake- i'm sure he will. As far as we can tell he has a bit of a sweet tooth like his mom. It may be bad later in llife, but it will be awesome for his birthday. So i'll be making some kind of invite this week and passing them out, but if i miss you, please come eat cake and play with us on April 6th at 1:00 pm outside in the quad (the play area outside our apartment).

New Couch!!!

I am sooo excited!! On friday we went and ordered our new couch! Some of you may think this is strange or maybe even a little bit dumb since we're moving to indiana. BUT, we love this couch and it was such a great deal! Plus, it's brand new! Ok, so maybe i get a little bit excited over small things, but this is big news for me/us. oh, and it comes in boxes, kinda ikea style (but not an ikea couch) so it will pack really well into our POD without taking up too much room.

This lovely bonded leather sectional comes with a storage ottoman and 2 throw pillows, and was only $700, before taxes. I'll be honest, it was the ottoman that sold me on this one. I mean, yes, it looks very nice, and its comfy, and its leather so it's easy to wipe up those inevitable spills by Jackson, but the ottoman convinced me it was the one for us! We now have a place to store our DVD's out of Jacksons site (and hopefully out of mind) and we don't have to worry about him banging his head on the corner of a hard coffee table. That is if he ever decides he is brave enough to try walking. He has the balance but sits down as soon as you let go of his hand. He doesn't fall, he nicely sits himself on the floor and that's how i know that he could stand if he really wanted too. It's been nice out this last week and i thought that being outside with all the other kids around his age who are walking would provide a little inspiration, but not yet. We'll keep working on it.

Random Pictures

Here's my little Jack in the box :)

Trying to be marg simpson perhaps?

In the middle of a rousing game of " lets see how many random things i can collect"
He got a wash bucket (aka: icecream pail), my keys, the cover to my camara lens and a sock
... he always finds a sock

I went to check on him during a nap and this is what i found. It kinda scared me at first till i heard him breathing... but where is his head???

Fashion Statement

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Jackson??? ok, I know I have. He is so incredibly fun and he gives me the biggest laughs. Seriously! Laughing at/with him is the best ab workout I've had since before i was pregnant! ( i know, that's not really saying a lot is it?) Anyway, I got a kick out of these pictures and thought you might as well. While I did put the stylish "hat" on for the pictures, Jackson figured it out first and inspired the photos. Enjoy!
"Just because it was funny ten minutes ago doesn't mean you have to take a picture of it"
"here we go again with that camara thing"

I love this face! Bryan pointed out that he very closely resembles one of the seven dwarfs (sleepy)

What a trooper. Posing for the silly pictures, not pulling the ziploc box off his head and not having a hissy fit during any of it. Aww- i love him! (and his daddy!!!)

Bubbles

Jackson absolutely adores his daddy! And nothing is better/cooler to him than getting to have a bath with dad on Wednesdays when Bryan gets back from playing Basketball with some guys in our ward. Sadly, it was late last night when bryan went to clean up and I had already put Jackson in his pajama's and changed his diaper so i just let him play in the water and bubbles with Bryan while I made dinner. Not 2 minutes after i started dinner i hear bryan just cracking up in the bathroom and telling me to come look. There is our little boy eating the bubbles and absolutely loving it! It may not have been the healthiest thing, but it sure was funny, and absolutely adorable. I can really picture him growing up and having a goatee like his grandpa schaalje when i see these pictures. Sorry he's not smiling in the pictures. He was getting tired and was unimpressed with me trying to wipe the bubbles off his hands moments earlier, so he didn't ingest any more.
