Today

Today has been a great day. Jackson and I were able to keep ourselves busy which was great! And it was Bryan's first day of real class (not orientation stuff). He started head and neck anatomy ( they are disecting cadavers- yuck).

While bryan was using a razor blade, Jackson and I were invtied to go to the zoo! Thanks a ton to our new friend Kristin and her kids (Eden, Jonah and Lona) for taking us and letting us use her guest pass. As well a a big thanks to Marty and her little boy (mica) and a half - she is having another little boy soon. We didn't stay too long, but it was very hot ( so surprised!- not). We willl be going again. Jackson really liked the fish. There was even an area you can pet some baby sharks, but none ever came close enough for jackson to touch. maybe next time.

Way over exposed, but here is Jackson watching the sea lion show

Eating lunch with the ducks, with flamingos in the background

Marty helping Jackson pet the goats. He was a little scared of them. But Marty sure helped him out with that fear.

In addition to going to the zoo, I made cookies for the first time in our new place. i will never do that in the afternoon again. Though our place has a/c, it took the rest of the afternoon for the house to cool off again once i was done baking. Jackson has never gotten his very own fresh cookie before... here is the result

After jackson's cookie adventure we headed off to the park behind our house. It is a wonderful park. The only thing missing is good friends. I miss going out to the park at Wymount and knowing there would almost always be another mom out there to chat with. But it's ok. Jackson keeps me busy as he moves around the play ground and tries to go down fireman poles (aka: scaring me to death).

In our BACKYARD (yes, we have one!!!) on our way to the park. Its right out our back gate.

Taking a detour on our way to the park.

Having fun. He loves the big covered slide. If he could figure out how to sit down in it without tipping out or face planting he would be a pro at it. He scoots himself down it. Its so cute!

Sorry about the picture over load. We just had a lot of fun today and i didn't want to leave anything out.

And last but not least... the ugly and HUGE bug we found at the playground. It was probably 2.5 inches not including legs- nasty!

Moving

After all of our troubles with PODS (see earlier post) our stuff has finally arrived! We are pretty much completely moved in too! And i am absolutely loving our new place. After living at wymount, i feel like i'm living in a mansion. It is amazing!
We are renting a town house in an area called manchester village in indianapolis. People here are so so friendly. And there are a lot of other dental students and their families living in the same area as us, as well as a few medical students. On saturday we went for a bbq with a bunch of them ( i hadn't even been to church to meet them yet). It is wonderful to feel so welcome already. Tomorrow there is a girl's night and they are going to see eclipse, which i will admit, i do want to see, but knowing that my hubby starts school the next morning at 7:30 am makes me want to spend that night with him. But honestly, i am just so thankful for the friendship that has already been extended to us.
Jackson helping us clean up the kitchen. he's actually wearing a Canada t-shirt because our stuff arrived on Canada day, but i never got a good shot of him in it because he was gone most of the day with a wonderful lady from our ward who took him to the park to play with her kids.

While we waited for our things to arrive bryan did a lot of painting. that includes the entire downstairs (livingroom/kitchen/dining room), jackson's room, a bathroom and an accent wall in our bedroom. it looks wonderful and has really made me feel like this is home (at least for 4 more years).
I absolutely love love love my living room. Everything is new minus decorations on the walls. Our couch is awesome, and i honestly just feel like it is a great place to relax. I'm only posting a picture of the living room because 1) it's my favorite and 2) i'm not caught up on house keeping and don't feel like showing off how messy the rest of my home is.

So overall, i like Indianapolis- though it could cool down about 10 degrees and lose a lot of the humidity and i wouldn't complain about it. But i like it more han i expected to. Istill really miss my family. Luckily bryan's sister and her family have just moved to michigan so we have family within driving distnace. In fact, we went to see them after church on sunday and went to the 4th of july fireworks with them. but i'll save that for another post. We sure do love them and are glad they are close by. And Jackson loved seeing his cousins for the first time. I don't think i've ever seen him so giggly and happy before.

Thanks to all of the awesome people who helped with our move. And to the rest of our friends and family not close by, know that we are missing you and love you lots.

Indiana, Here we come!!!

For those of you who haven't heard our awesome news yet, Bryan has been accepted to Indiana School of Dentistry, in Indianapolis. School starts July 8th so we'll be heading out there at the end of June. So far the plan is to pack all of our stuff into a POD and ship it out there, and the family will go back to Canada for 2 months after Bryan graduates in April. That way Jackson will only have to suffer through the car ride once. We could not be any happier about this news! It was bryans top choice and we are sooo proud of him and the amazing man he is!
The official acceptance letter!!!

We knew that if Bryan was going to be accepted to IUPUI it would happen the morning of December 1st. Neither of us could sleep that night! Bryan was up for a few hours and kept checking his e-mail to see if he was accepted (the official letter came later). They start sending out acceptance at midnight, so by 5 am he had decided he wasn't getting in. I didn't know this, as i had finally fallen asleep. I got up with Jackson at 7, as usual that morning, took a shower and was just starting to do my hair when bryan came into the washroom and told me he was accepted. Emotions were running very high, to say the least. So what had happened was that the university had messed up Bryan's e-mail address. He should have had his acceptance at midnight, but because it was the wrong addy they didn't find out it wasn't sent until school opened in the morning. They found the right one and called bryan too, just to make sure he got the awesome news.
