Rant/Vent session

This is going to be a complete rant/vent. So if you aren't up to hearing about my frustrations, don't read this.

I'm going to start on a bright note... maybe i should end on one, but oh well. So Bryan left for Indianapolis early Sunday morning. Luckily everything went smoothly on his way there and he arrived right when we'd planned for him too. Today, we took possession of our apartment/townhouse. Everything also went well with that and the place looks great. Bryan even bought paint (i am so excited to be able to paint this place!!!). Bryan also bought our washer and dryer today, and they were already delivered! So it sounds like an awesome and productive day right? WRONG!!!

A guy from our ward in Indianapolis had arranged for a bunch of people to help unload our POD today. The only thing wrong with that? NO POD!!! We got a confirmation message on our phone yesterday that it was being delivered between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm today. Around 2 bryan called to see where they were... and our pod is NOT in indianapolis. (they never called to tell us this). We were told, and even saw on the internet about a week after we'd left provo, a confirmation that the pod was in indianpolis and being stored there. NOPE! The POD they thought was ours, isn't. How is that possible? do they not have numbers or something on them? someway to keep them straight? ahg! So the lady bryan talked to said they "think" our POD is probably still in provo, and was mixed up with someone else's pod. That's right, they only "think" it's there. they don't actually know where our POD is. They told that to Bryan and then had the idea that saying " oh, but don't worry, it's not lost" would make us feel better. umm, hello! you just told us you don't know where it is, does that not define being lost???

So even if they found the pod today and stuck it on a truck heading to indianapolis, it wont arrive for another 2 days, minimum! Bryan now has at least 2 extra nights of hotel expenses and food costs. The PODS lady said we'd be compensated, but she couldnt say how much because it will depend on how much of an inconvenience it was to us, and they wont be able to tell that until it arrives. Well i will tell you that, that company better be paying for bryans hotels and meals, as well as inconvenience. We were supposed to be done our contract with PODS on the 25th- we will now be renting the pod for another month due to it arriving after that date (most likely)- but they sure as heck better not think we'll be paying for that either.

This whole incident has also brought up the bitter memory of what happened with our new couches that we ordered before we left provo (though that is all supposed to be worked out- we'll find out tomorrow or friday- i'll explain). We had ordered an awesome leather sectional and ottoman to put in our pod to be taken out to indiana. We went to pick it up, and it was the wrong couch. We had ordered it 6 weeks before we had to leave so there was plenty of time. We came to find out that the boss had ordred us a different one on purpose! because ours was on backorder. But nobody told us this and the wrong couch was loaded into the truck to pack up. Had bryan not noticed it had the wrong product number on it, we would have taken the wrong couches to Indiana and this company would have essentially commited fraud because we were unaware of what they had done, and they knew exactly what they had done. Now this company is paying for the right couch to be shipped to Indiana, and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow or the next day.

And i haven't even mentioned the fiasco we went through trying to get the right computer ordered that Bryan has to have as a school requirement.

Could any more go wrong? I know, i shouldn't ask because it probably will. But i am so mad right now! and the worst part is there is nothing Bryan, or I, can do about it. Even if PODS finds the right pod it will take days to get there (assuming it is in Provo). ahg. I'm just so frustrated!

I guess i could try to look at the fact that we ended up having to have our couches shipped out separate from the rest of our stuff as a blessing... at least bryan could sleep on the couch if worst came to worst...

  1. My goodness! Moving across country is stressful enough when everything works out smoothly. Our trailer was dropped off just a day late and that was frustrating enough that I can't imagine having such a terrible unknown time frame to wait. Good luck. Hopefully everything works out quickly.
