We had a birthday party for Jackson on saturday. We've been working on it for a couple of weeks and are really proud of how everything turned out. Take a look and see if you agree. The whole theme was Cars.
Here's the main table. We also had some strawberries and pineapple off to the side, but it kept with the red/yellow theme. We had candy corn for traffic cones, different cookies for spare tires, and I didnt take a close up but I made checkered flags with toothpicks and scrapbook paper and stuck in cheese cubes.
Bryan did an AMAZING job on the Mater cake!!! The only claim I have to this is making the fondant.
Bryan also drew the car for the pin-the wheel-on-the-car game. He's a lot more artsy than I am- obviosuly. I did make the wheels though! And the blind folds, which I have now cut eye holes in to make super-hero masks.
I couldnt resist making traffic cone party hats. They just fit the theme so well and were too easy to make.
Cardboard cars for a car race. It was raining on Saturday so we had to improvise and instead of a race around the play ground we did a surpentine in our kitchen for the kids to run through/around. The windows in the cars doubled as arm holes, incase you're wondering how the kids wore the cars.
Also proud of this game. I made the wheel bean bags and painted some diaper boxes the color of traffic lights for a bean bag toss game.
I didnt take a picture of them, but for party favors I bought hot wheels and made a cool label that I glued to the packaging that said " I'm 'wheelie' glad you came to my birthday party!"
We had to split the kids into groups to do the games because our house is just too small to have all the kids doing one game at a time in one room. It really would have been great if we could have done this outside. Here's Jackson with Maack and Alex after the pin-the-wheel-on-the-car game.
Ready to run the surpentine!
I really think the cake was the best part of the party! It looked so good!
Jackson opening presents and all the kids watching
Yes, Katie was present at this party. Here she's haning out with baby Ella.
Mike and Lacey chillin' with our babies after the party. Jackson was seriously more interested in playing with Mike than his friends his age. It is so sweet how much he loves these guys.
We had a great time, even if it was a little crowded. Thanks to everyone who came!
Finally! I love ALL your ideas! I've been struggling with this theme and now I have some amazing ideas. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
